Court of Honor

On April 19, we had another Court of Honor. Austin received the rank of Life Scout. We are one step away from getting his Eagle. He also earned a ton of merit badges. (More sewing for me!) Zachery also received his last scouting award. He earned his silver palm. Now he has three palms. They had the Court of Honor at Lonnie Hammargren's house. He was a surgeon, Lt. Governor, and he is a collector. He is a very colorful character. Yes, when you think of Vegas, you have to think of Lonnie. From the pictures, you can tell how much he collects. It is all over his three homes! Check out the link if you want to see more. You can even take a virtual tour of his home! It doesn't do it justice! http://nevadadays.org/ You can learn all about Lonnie! He gave a great message to the scouts. He told them that they can accomplish anything. Don't let people tell you that you can't accomplish your dreams!

Track Season Is Over

Track is over. These are pictures from the last track meet of the season. Unfortunately the season didn't end the way Zachery wanted. He didn't get the time he wanted and he pulled a muscle. You can see when he crosses the finish line, the look on his face. Hopefully next year will be better. I think he did great! Isn't that what all moms think about their kids?

Look Who is 16!

April 16, 2008. Zachery is now 16! He had a big cheesecake for his birthday cake! He loves cheesecake. Then he got to open his gift. Yes, he has a cell phone! He is so excited! He also got a suit. He had a great day. He even has his first date all lined up! I will post pictures of his surprise party soon.

First Lost Tooth!

On April 4 Ian lost a tooth. I was in Salt Lake and I was just telling a friend how grateful I was for being a stay-at-home mom and being able to witness all of my children's "Firsts", and I missed this! We knew that Ian had a loose tooth, but I guess we underestimated how loose it was. Don had picked up Ian from school that day, and found out that Ian had gone to the nurse because his tooth was loose. Now, our children love to go to the nurse. She is so nice and the kids love her. So, Don told Ian that he shouldn't go to the nurse for just a loose tooth. He told him it would take a while to fall out, and Ian just needed to wait. Well after running around town to get things done, Don went home and Ian again complained about his tooth. Don took him into the bathroom and checked on the tooth. He wiggled it and it basically was just hanging on. Ooops, it was ready to come out! So, Don finished the job and pulled it out! Ian was so excited. No one in our family has ever lost a tooth in kindergarten! He is the only one! When I got home, he was excited to show me his blood soaked paper towel. He said, "Now I am a man!" He was excited when he woke up the next day to find a $1.00 under his pillow.

Jenny Jordan Frogley, Jessie Clark Funk, David Osmond, Jeff McLean, George Dyer, Summer Smart, Daniel Beck, Barry Hansen also sing on this CD. I went and listened to the tracks and I am very impressed. Check it out. It is very good and I think it is important to support new artists!

Happy Birthday Zachery!

Sweet 16! Don and I can hardly believe it! Where did the time go? I remember his birth just like it was yesterday. Zachery is a great kid! He is so smart and talented. He is an incredible writer. Sometimes Don and I just look at each other and laugh. Where did this kid come from? Zach has a great sense of humor. He can keep our family laughing all day long. Age 16 brings about a lot of changes. He can work, drive, date, and get a cell phone from Mom and Dad. We really think Zach is ready for these changes. He has great friends and a good head on his shoulders! Most important, he has a strong testimony of the gospel! We love you Zach! Have a great birthday!

Note: Here is the bad thing about scrap booking, all of Zach's baby pictures are scrap booked! This was before the digital camera!

Is Summer Here?

It certainly feels like summer is here. It is too soon for the heat! Today temperatures got into the 90's. The kids didn't have school today because it was a "teacher work day". So, we headed down to the pool! It was great! Many of our friends had the same idea. It was fun just laying by the pool and watching the kids have fun with their friends.

Survivor Week 9

O.k. I am losing track of the weeks. We have missed a couple of shows! Just to update, Ian is out. He lost everyone. Aubrey lost Eliza this week. Maybe we will get to see the show next week.

Family Time

Awhile ago we heard that this production was coming to Henderson. So, we got six tickets to go and see it. Well last night we finally went. Getting there was the battle. The kids had heard from the youth that it was boring and long. (Our youth saw it the night before we did.) So, the boys were not excited at all to go. Then they complained that they would be tired the next day. The younger kids complained that they were missing "Survivor". I started to wonder if I had made a mistake! Maybe I should of left them home. Even though they complained, we really felt strongly that we had to go. Don and I feel strongly about providing the kids with opportunities to feel the Spirit. We can't force them to feel the Spirit, but we can provide them with opportunities to do so. Ian even complained that there was no hill. (He thought he was going to something like the Hill Cumorah.) So we went, and watched the production. They didn't say too much about it. It was very beautiful. We were just amazed at the talent. It was wonderful. So, I was kind of worried when the kids were so quiet about it. All they said is that they were tired! Well the next day as I was driving the 3 youngest around, they began to talk about the production. They told me how much they loved it, they asked questions about the resurrection, and began to talk about how Thomas needed to have faith in the resurrected Christ. O.k. I was in shock! Who knew? They told me their favorite parts and even quoted some of the script. Ian even asked why there were so many women named Mary. It really made me realize that sometimes you may think your children aren't getting it, but they really are. I am so glad we went.

My Quick Trip!

I had a wonderful opportunity to go to Salt Lake City with the rest of our Stake Primary Presidency to be trained by the General Primary Presidency. (Sister Lant, Sister Lifferth, and Sister Matsumori) It was so good! I can't even begin to tell you how wonderful it was. Elder Madsen spoke to us first. His talk was so powerful. He spoke about how important our calling in the Primary is, and how it is our job to protect our children and the children of the Primary from the evils of the world! Then Sister Lant spoke to us, and they trained us on how to hold a council and what our responsibility is in our calling. I loved it. it was just the boost I needed! I wish I had this training when I first started in this calling. Then the next day we all went to the Mt. Timpanogus Temple. Wow, is that temple beautiful! It was just breath taking. After that we headed home. It was so much fun getting to know the women I serve with. I really think we are closer because of this trip. I love the Primary children and I love serving them. I know I am not perfect, but I just keep plugging along! I guess that is all we can do. The weekend ended with General Conference. What a great conference it was! Every talk was great. It was neat to see the new Prophet, President Monson, sustained! I had to laugh when Elder Ballard was speaking. He spoke to the mothers, but at the end of his talk he spoke to the children. He told them to listen and Ian stopped what he was doing and listened. Then the first thing Elder Ballard said was, "Children pick up your toys when you are asked to." I thought that was great. I don't think Ian did!
