Flag Football Update

First let me just say, we love our little flag football team. They are the cutest boys and their coaches are great. If we could just win a game, that would be great! Yes, they lost again. So sad. They did better, they got two touchdowns this game. Ian is doing great, he has improved so much! One win, that is all we need. It would just make these boys so happy!

Aubrey's Movie Review

Hi! This is Aubrey! Over the weekend mom and I went to see Fame. Before the movie started mom and me saw a preview for New Moon!!!!!!! Well, Fame was a great movie with AWESOME dancing. The singing was wicked. The music playing was great. It was not a bad movie at all!!! I loved Fame. Mom and I want to buy the movie when it comes out on DVD. I recommend the movie for anyone who loves the performing arts. After the movie mom and I went to Cold Stone. Mom got Cake Batter ice cream and I got mint with peanut butter cups. All in all, it was a great movie!!!!!!

Cross Country Update

Yesterday was Zachery's last cross country meet at his high school. He still has more meets to run, (He is in Portland right now at the Nike Pre-Nationals.) but this was the last time he would run at his school. Don and I really didn't think of it. Then Zachery told us he was coloring his hair blue for the race. I calmly asked why, and that is when he informed me that this was his last home meet and all the seniors were doing it! Last home meet! My friends warned me there would be these little moments all year long. I guess they kind of just sneak up Don and me. That is just the way we like it! It was also picture day for the cross country teams. When Zachery came home, I asked him if they colored their hair before or after their team pictures. He told me they did it before! Nice, I am buying these pictures. Zach then told me that Scott did it first, and since he is the captain, they all did it! Then my sons demonstrated the funny faces they made during the team photo. My goodness, you know I will post that picture when I get it. At least Austin didn't have blue hair for his picture, and he assured me that he didn't make any crazy faces for his individual shot. That one is for me. Also, Zach had his senior stadium picture yesterday. He told me that we will be able to spot him and Scott real easy. They stood next to a girl with a neon green shirt. O.k. so I will give them that, they were smart for that picture!
Zach asked me to go to the meet early and take this picture. I can't think of one negative thing to say about these boys! They are awesome and such good friends. Don and I just love them!
Start of the race!

This is the group Zach usually stays with. He did great this meet, his time was 14:35. Centennial won this one.

Here is Austin. They didn't post his time, but he did great. We don't know if this is his last home meet. We don't know if he really likes cross country yet, but now his P.E. credit is taken care of! No more P.E. ever!
One thing Austin does have is an amazing kick. He can use those long legs. He is looking forward to giving track a try.
After the meet, Zach came over to talk with Dad. You can see his blue hair now.
More cowbell! The tradition has moved on to the girls!

Austin's Eagle Court Of Honor

Tonight was the night. Yes, Austin received his Eagle Scout Award. Now it is official. He is an Eagle Scout. He wanted it very simple, and we kept it that way. He really didn't even want a court of honor, so he said we could have one if everyone wore orange. It was amazing, everyone did, even Bishop Harper. Before the court of honor Raini (cousin) and the kids put some music on and danced. It was pretty funny!
This was his cake. I also made some cookies, Kim R. made her famous pumpkin bars, and Jodi Y. made some rice crispy treats too.
His display.
Quincy Edwards was the only speaker Austin wanted. He did a wonderful job!
Dad presented his award.
If you are wondering about his outfit, that is the same outfit he wore to his Eagle Board of Review. Lets just say, they were not pleased with this look, but he still passed!
Austin wanted Quincy to have his mentor pin. We love Quincy. We can't say enough wonderful things about him. He is the one YM leader who has always been there for Zach and Austin! No matter what, we can always count on Quincy. He sets a huge example for Zach and Austin. They just adore him. One of the boys told me once, that sometimes when they are making a decision, they think to themselves, what would Brother Edwards do? He is one of those YM leaders that you pray your son's will have. Zach also gave Quincy his mentor pin.

In the Eagle's nest now!
Austin totally impressed us. His final words were so wonderful and spoken from the heart. He did a great job. We are very proud of him.
Zachery did Austin's video. He did a great job, and I hope you all enjoy it. Zachery conducted the meeting. Really, Zach and Austin planned the whole thing. I was so impressed with both of them. It was a very nice night.

Flag Football Season Begins!

Ian is doing flag football again. He decided to give up soccer and try football again. Don is excited. He is glad Ian is doing football. He is on the Titans and he loves it. They lost their first game today, but he did great. He plays defence, and he did great. He got a lot of flags!!!!

Making Jam!

First of all, this is a warning. This post might come as quite a shock to most of you! First of all, you might be shocked to know that I went to Enrichment Night thing. I know, I never go. When I was there, I learned to make jam. Then even a bigger shock, I made some! Zach just kept watching me in the kitchen hoping that it would come out right. I have made freezer jam before, but this was new. It came out pretty good. I am proud of myself and the kids are excited to have homemade jam!

Cross Country Update

Yesterday was a home meet against Faith Lutheran and Palo Verde. We won. My pictures did not come out great at all! I wasn't thinking about the sun, and I just didn't get any good shots. Here are a couple. This is the view from the their high school. It is so pretty at night when you are watching a football game.
The guys before the meet.

Austin is really pleased that he is getting better with each run. He feels like he is really starting to get it and learn how to pace himself. His time was 17:52. He is his blowing past some guys!
Zach is in this pack! He got a 15:17 and doesn't feel like it isn't a good run. Looked good to me!

While The Guys Go Hiking.......The Women Take The Kids To Zion.

For Labor Day the Albrights invited us to go to their family cabin in Kolob. Don and Chris had been talking about doing the West Rim hike for quite awhile. You can read Don's post to see how that went. We had so much fun at the cabin. The kids loved it. Here are the guys playing pool.
We saw some wildlife.
We took a little walk to a lake!
The older boys decided to stay back at the cabin to study for the ACT's. They really did study.

Austin and Dallin loved this sign!
We skipped stones.

I love him!
The next day while the guys were hiking Elaine and I took the younger kids into Zion. I love that park. It is just so relaxing and peaceful. It is amazing. What I really like about this park is that you can't drive in it. You park your car and then get on buses that take you around. It is perfect. It makes the park so quiet. I really like it. We decided to take the kids to the Temple of Sinawava and let the kids play in the river.
Here they are getting ready to go in.
As we hiked to the Temple of Sinawava, we loved seeing the water trickle down the rocks and all the green plants and moss!
When we got there the kids took off their shoes and walked out to a rock in the middle of the river.
The water was very cold. We had a great time that day.
Life long friends!
