Flag Football Update

Well, today the luck of the Irish was not with them.  They lost.  It was so sad.  I am sure they will do better next week.  Ian had his favorite fans there with him blowing their horns and cheering him on.  He loves that.  I don't know if the people around us love it, but he does.  Aubrey and Austin made it to the game before going off to rugby and dance.
Ian did play hard.  Here he is grabbing a flag!

Mail Today!

We got a card today from our favorite missionary, Zach.  It was fun to get real mail from him.  It was a card to celebrate, Defence of the Motherland Day.  He loves Russia and the people there.  You can click here to read more about his adventures.

Rugby in St. George!

Austin and Don headed to St. George to play Pineview in rugby.  Austin was really excited for this game.  Unfortunately they don't have enough people to play 15's so they had to play 7's.  They won one game and lost the other.  Austin loves playing rugby!  Don really enjoyed watching him play.  He also enjoyed spending some alone time with Austin and talking with him.  It was a really good trip!

Flag Football Update - The Luck Of Irish Was With Them!

There are those wonderful moments in sports, you know, the great come backs!  Well, Ian had one of those moments.  We had a game on St. Patrick's Day.  Ian wore a green shirt under his football shirt to represent his heritage.  Don was in St. George for Austin's rugby game and Aubrey was at dance.  It was just me and Ian!  The game started out so bad.  At half time the score was 18-0.  Once again, our little team was loosing.  Ian came off the field at half time and told me that they will get it back in the next half.  It was so hard for me to look at him and have the same kind of faith he has.  I didn't want him to be disappointed, but things didn't look good.  Ian had been having a great game.  He caught a ton of balls and pulled flags.  When he caught one ball, a member from the other team wrapped his arms around Ian's neck and threw him to the ground.  Forget dance moms, I almost had a football mom moment.  It is flag football!!!  Pull a flag, not my son's neck!!!  The good news is, he didn't drop the ball!  In the second half Ian caught a pass and ran for a touchdown.  Right before he crossed the line his flag was pulled!  The coaches told Ian later that this was the game changing play!  All of the sudden the boys started making touchdowns!  Two interceptions later we won the game, 18-20!!!  It was crazy.  The boys were so happy.  Don was so bummed he wasn't there.  I kept him updated with texts, but at one point I sent him a text that said, "I can't text now, things are crazy!"  It was a great game.  The first thing Ian said as he came off the field was, "Text Dad and tell him I won!"  Ian also believes that he has to wear his green shirt under his uniform because it brings him good luck!

Robotics And Science Olympiad

Today, Austin had a Robotics tournament.  His robot "Black Mamba 2" was built and ready for action!  It did really good.  The few rounds I saw, it won.  His school won the whole tournament.
Here is Austin and his friend Austin L. with the robot.  It looks like they are having fun.  As always, Austin is rocking the bow tie!
Last week Austin went to Reno to compete in Science Olympiad.  His school won second there.  He came in 4th in one of  his events.  He had a great time!  He is the one holding the trophy!
(Once again, big thanks to Mrs. Lopez to posting this picture!)

Flag Football Starts Again!

Here we go again!  Flag football.  Once again we lost.  But, the score was 25-21!  Yep, it wasn't a blow out!!!  Let me tell you, the other team was nervous when we started to come back!  This is the best I have ever seen these boys play!  We are really excited for this season.  I think it is going to be a good season!
Once again, Ian is center.  He does really well in that position.  He also plays defense.
The best part of the day is when Ian caught a ball giving his team the extra point after a touch down!  He was so excited.  So were we!  Don and I jumped out of our chairs.  The best part of it was, I was taking pictures and got a picture of his catch!

On The Wall!

This is the wall that was formally known as the Eagle Scout Wall. We have to rename it now.  We don't know what to call it now because we have added Aubrey and her medallion picture!  We are very proud of her accomplishments!  Just one more child to be added to this wall when he gets his Eagle!

Rubgy Update!

Austin's rugby team is still in pre-season play.  He had a game a couple of weeks ago.  I asked Don to bring the camera and take pictures, but he forgot it.  Thank heavens for facebook.  These pictures were posted and Austin happen to be in them!!!!  He looks pretty tough.  Yes, that is him being lifted up.  Unfortunately they lost by one try.  I still have no idea what that means.  I am a rookie when it comes to this sport!
