Week in Review

I already wrote about how we had New Beginnings this week.  We also had a visitor on Monday.  Don's cousin was in town and we went to dinner with her and her husband.  It was so nice to visit with her.  We got caught up on the family and just got to know them better.  It was so nice.  We appreciate when people come to town and make time for us.
Our temple was being cleaned and was closed for a couple of weeks.  It was open this week, so Don and I went to the temple and dinner for our date night.  It was so good to go in and feel calm.  So much drama is happening in our country.  It has left me heartbroken and heavy.  What is the answer?  I feel like the country is so divided now.  How do we come together?  Going to the temple was good for me.  To just forget about the world and get some peace.
This was this Sunday's quote.  I really love it.

New Beginnings...Up

We hd New Beginnings this week for Young Women's.  New Beginnings is when we welcome the new girls coming into the program and explain some things about Young Women's.  It is always exciting. You want to make the new girls feel welcomed and excited to come to Young Women's.  My friend was in charge of this night and did the cutest theme, Up!  It was adorable.  She did awesome.  It was so good.

What made this night so good was just watching the older girls welcome the new ones.  The older girls always spotlight them.  Sometimes they just read a bunch of things the new girls like.  This time they really talked to the girls, and made them feel comfortable.  They made real connections with the girls.  I was so impressed with how kind and sweet the older girls were to the younger ones.  We have a good group of girls.

Then the girls and their families took pictures in front of a backdrop the Beehives (12-14 year olds) made.  Who knew our bishop takes great selfies?  It was fun to see everyone having fun!

Week In Review!

On Monday, we had off from school because of Martin L. King Day.  We really didn't do too much with the day off. These are two of my favorite quoted from Martin L. King.  I often wonder what our country would be like if he had not been killed.

We have received more rain!!!!  I love winter and the storms that come through!
Aubrey has been busy with rehearsal.  She told me she is in a hula dance.  I was like, "What?"  She said it was because she has pretty hands.  She has been dancing a lot.  She does ballet four hours a day, goes to the gym, and then has rehearsal.  Last semester her toenails turned black from the pressure of pointe. It is a normal thing.  I told her to leave them alone and she knows how to care for them.  Well, after one of her classes, her blood burst from her toe!  Gross I know, but it is a dancers life!
We also had an inauguration this week.  Yeah, this one is strange.  I have a ton of thoughts on this, but I think I will just keep them to myself.  I grew up in the 80's and all day I was like, "Really? Donald Trump is President?"  It is just strange to me.
This was the Sunday Quote I posted!

Week In Review

This month is kind of a quiet month. Like the quiet before the storm.  So I really don't have anything to blog about.  Soon, life will be busy!  This weeks weather was rainy all week, and I enjoyed it.  Well, sometimes.
I do not enjoy the rain when I have to stand outside during recess, in the pouring rain.  Yep, our administration sent us out in the rain for recess.  Those poor Vegas kids had no coats and were wearing shorts and short sleeve shirts.  Poor kids.

Of course, rain does not stop me from running.  I enjoy the change in season.
Alabama played for the National Championships.  That didn't go well. We lost.  It was heartbreaking and a close game.  We did dress in all our Alabama gear!  We still love them.  Next year will be better.Ian didn't watch the game because he was at lacrosse practice.

I had to go back to my oncologist.  Everything is looking ok.  My numbers didn't go down, but they didn't go up.  It is hard for me because I feel like I am a failure and that means things are not going good.  I am always scared for the next shoe to drop and for the bad news to come.  It is overly stressful and at times I feel like I have no one to really express this too.  It is sometimes so hard to be strong, but I really don't have a choice.  I also went for bone treatment and everything went well.  I felt great, and I am thankful for that.
My favorite part of the week is on Sunday when some of my kids skype or facetime us.  I love talking to them.  Aubrey had some big news this week.  She tried out for Dance Alliance and made the team.  She will be traveling to Canada this summer to dance.  She was not even a full time student right now and is really not aloud to try out.  The head of the dance department was going to make an exception, but warned her that she most likely would not make it.  Well, she did make it.  She is super excited about it.  It will be a wonderful experience for her.

Week In Review

Nothing really exciting happened this week.We went back to school, so it was kind of busy with that.  Just getting ourselves back into the flow of things!  The New Year came and the desantafication process began.  It took forever, but all the decorations are down!

For Young Women's and Young Men's we went to Three Square Food Bank and separated oranges.  We took the rotten ones out and saved the good ones.  They will be handed out to the homeless.  It is so cold out lately, this is really good.  I love volunteering there.  I love being with the youth.  I am so blessed to serve with them!

Then on Thursday I read about this warning!

Wind Chill Warning

A Wind Chill Warning has been issued for the Rexburg area from 9:00 p.m. tonight until 9:00 a.m. MST Thursday. Wind chill temperatures between -20 °F to -30 °F are expected. Frostbite to exposed skin can occur in minutes. Students are encouraged to stay indoors tonight. If driving is necessary, be cautious of slick, snow-packed roads.

The university class schedule will continue as normal Thursday morning.
Crazy right.  My poor kids!  They just froze up there.  I had to laugh that even though frostbite could occur in minutes, they still had class!!!! It is still snowing up there!
Then this Sunday, one of my Young Women received her Young Women's Medallion.  (This award recognizes you for your worthiness and for completing all the Personal Progress requirements. As a recipient of the award, you show that you have established a pattern of progress in your life. You are prepared to make and keep sacred temple covenants. You are committed to keeping the commandments, serving others, and developing and sharing your gifts and talents. You will strive to strengthen the home and family.) I love this girl.  She reminds me so much of Aubrey.  She is a great girl and has worked hard to receive this award!  I am the Personal Progress Specialist, so I get to work with the girls in achieving this goal.  I am so proud of her!
This is my Sunday quote!  Aubrey had me listen to this devotional after she heard it at BYU-Idaho.  I loved it!  So this is a quote from that talk. It fits perfectly with me and my life!

Week In Review!

I don't really have much to write and it has been two weeks since I have written a week in review.  So these are just a few things I needed to catch up with.  I did a lot of last minute shopping during Christmas break.  Last minute Christmas shopping then more shopping after Christmas.  I spent a lot of time at the outlets.  Great view from there.
I also got my awesome new planner.  It is so awesome.  Check it out HERE!  It makes me excited for the new year!

Aubrey's friend Stuart left for his mission.  I have to admit, this killed me. It is the first time I missed one of her friends going out on a mission.  Stuart is an awesome kid and he will be a great missionary.

I saw these at the store.  I had these as a little girl and I loved them!!!  I can't believe you can still by them!
We finished our scripture reading for December. I love focusing on Christ for the month of December.  I mean we should always focus on him, but I especially love Dec!
I loved having Aubrey's friends come and visit.  It is the best!
I woke up in the morning after Austin and Bre got to our house and found this!  Yep, googly eyes on all of our portraits!  Yes, Austin was home!
We also went to the temple.  I loved going with Aubrey and Ian!  It was wonderful.

Then today, I spoke on the new theme for the youth in sacrament meeting.  I don't know if it was any good, but I did it.I love this theme!  I am so excited for it!
