Cross Country Update

Today, Ian ran the Foothill Falcon Invite.  It was a nice cool Vegas morning!!!  Yay!  He did amazing!  I have never seen him run so well.  He seemed relaxed and calm the whole run. He was slaying it!  He beat some kids he has never beat before.  He even got his best time, 21:24.  Every time he is getting better and better.  Today as we got in the car he told me, "I think I like cross country.  I am starting to really get it."  I am so proud of him.  He works hard and never gives up.  It really shows!  One thing about Ian, he is very loyal and committed to his team!  It really showed today!

Cross Country Update! One Shady Race!

This week Ian ran a cluster race at Faith.  It is a private school.  The weather was good today, like around 88 degrees! It seemed like a good race.  Unfortunately, some shady things happened.  Like when our boys who were winning went the wrong way, and no officials, standing right there told them to turn around.  When the Faith kids ran by the officials started screaming that they were winning because we went the wrong way.  Hmmmm!  Also, the boys had to run through the school where Faith students would get in their way.  There are some other things too.  It was very shady.  Unfortunately, our boys who were winning never recovered.  It was just sad.  Ian said the course had these crazy 90 degree turns and it made it very difficult to run.  I hope they don't go back there to run next year.  Funny, it is a religious school.  Maybe they need to get that memo out.  They weren't acting very Christlike!  Ian did ok.  He got 23:28.  He was a little disappointed, but the way that race went, I told him to just throw out that time.  You can tell who he is in the pictures.  He wears his knee brace.  He says it helps with his Osgood Schlatter Disease.  Now he is in California, running a meet there!

Happenings This Week!

Anyone that knows Don, knows what a big deal this is.  He never likes stickers on the car!  Well, when we came back from bringing Aubrey to school, Ian had this sticker from the meeting he went to.  It must of been timing, but Don went out and put that sticker right on my car.  I love it.  It is a new adventure, Bulldog Lacrosse!  Here we come!

Then I also saw this on snap chat.  It was Aubrey's first day of college.  I think they are loving it!

Cross Country Update

While we were in Idaho, Ian stayed with the Albrights!  He had school, a lacrosse meeting, and a meet.  I hate missing meets.  Our friend, Debbie got him to where he needed to be, because her son is involved in the same things!  Yes, I am loving that.  Anyway, Ian is killing it in cross country.  Is first race was tough, but now he is doing awesome!  Every meet he is making improvements!  His time is getting lower and lower!!!  At the Larry Burgess LC Invite he got a 21:33!  That is almost 10 minutes off of his first race!  That is all he needs to do, just keep improving!!!  I am so proud of him.  I am also grateful that Debbie took these pictures!

Aubrey's Quilt

Sometimes I can kick myself for starting this tradition!  I can't sew to save my life.  I can't even cut a straight line!  I am not exaggerating!  Every time a child of mine graduates and I start this, I start cursing the fact that I started this tradition.  Then I get done with it, and the kids love it!  So I guess it is worth it.  They love it.  I had to laugh with Aubrey's quilt.  I cut all the squares, and then I have them choose which ones they want in the quilt.  I am always shocked with what gets taken out and what gets put in.  Like, Hannah Montana and Nick Jonas made it in.  Also, her Thanksgiving 5K shirt made it in.  This time, I took the quilt top to my sister-in-law, and she quilted it and binded it for Aubrey.  This made this quilt even more special.  Diane made the quilt look so beautiful.  Aubrey loved it.  Now it is with her at college!  She can snuggle with her memories!  And yes, I will do another one for Ian!

Another One At BYU-Idaho

I knew this day was coming.  It was hard to see her packing up all summer long and getting things together.  She was so excited, and who can blame her.  She is getting ready to start her life on her own.  It is such an exciting time.  Then it came, time to leave.  Ian and her shared a hug before he left for seminary and she left for Idaho.
We went to Idaho a few days before moving day.  We walked around the campus.  Zach showed her where all her classes are.  We got her books and her ID, so she didn't have to wait in long lines and we took some pictures!

We even took her, her roommate, and her roommate's family to Big Judd's.  It isn't my favorite place.  It is greasy, but yummy.  I am happy to report that they do have a veggie burger!  It is kind of a thing you have to do!  You have to go to Big Judd's!  Anyway, I love the look on the girl's faces!

Aubrey got to spend time with family.  It is good to know that they are up there with her.  If she needs help or anything, her brothers are there and her Aunts and Uncles.  We even got to see our nephew play football.  He plays for Hill Crest, number 76!  They lost, and I was sad.  I wondered if we were bad luck!
Then we helped Aubrey move in.  We helped her hang some stuff up and get organized.  Then you start to feel it.  You know, like it is time to go.  She needs to be on her own and do it herself.  We could feel she was getting annoyed with us around.  It is the worse feeling.  You don't want to leave, but you have to.  It is really for the best.  So we took these last pictures, said goodbye, and cried on and off for two days.  Poor Don, he had such a hard time leaving Idaho and leaving her behind.  Our hearts were broken, but we are happy for her too.  She is going to do great.  I will miss her midnight talks with me as she lays in my bed.  I will miss her funny stories.  I totally look forward to Thanksgiving and I am already trying to find a way for her to come home for it!  She is doing good things, and I am proud of her.

Then I got a bunch of snap chats and texts from her.  So she still wants to talk to me!  The best one I got, "Oh, and thanks for not being the parent who hangs around the freshman orientation."  We did good!  It was time for us to leave!

Austin and Bree's Las Vegas Open House

We had Austin and Bree's open house this weekend.  It was wonderful.  They had barbecue sandwiches, mac and cheese, and cole slaw.  It was a shout out to his mission.  We had the party at the club house again.  These guys had some dancing. and then at the end of the night they jumped in the pool.  They had fun.  It was a nice way to celebrate their wedding.
