Roll Tide!

I haven't had much to write about.  I have been cleaning and sitting at the pool, getting ready for girls camp and sitting by the pool......you get the picture.  Then my brother-in-law sent me this video.  I have seen this commercial before, but it still cracks me up.  Anyone that follows this blog knows that my husband is a huge Alabama fan.  He wears his Alabama shirts and hats with pride.   Here's the funny thing, every time he does wear his Alabama stuff, somebody walks by him and says, "Roll Tide!"  It doesn't matter where we are!  We have been on vacation, at the marathon, on the strip, at work, our friends store and so on.  Somebody will come up to him and say, "Roll Tide!"  It is hysterical.  It is like they are automatically best friends because they share a love of the Alabama football team!  When we went to the Vegas Bowl to see Utah vs. Boise State my father-in-law wore his Alabama jacket with all the dates of the national championships on it.  Everybody in the stands, all around us, would stop and talk to my father-in-law about Alabama.  I am not kidding.  So, when I see this commercial I have to laugh.  It is so true!!!!  Roll Tide.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's day to my wonderful husband!!!  Don is an amazing father!  This is why I love Father's Day.  It is a day to make him feel special.  He deserves it.  He didn't have a lot of meetings at church today, so we were able to really spoil him!  He got some cookies at church.  Then when we got home we made him some clam linguine while he took a nap.  Then it was present time.  Don't you love the Barbie gift bag that Austin picked out for him!
Look at Aubrey's face while Don reads the cards.
Don got some clothes!  Ian decided to try them on!
He also got a new game to play.  When he will have time to play this game I have no idea!  Sometimes when Don comes home from work, he needs to blow some things up!
For dessert we made him his favorite dessert.  Some chocolate cheesecake.  He loved it!  It was a great day!  We love you Don!  You are the best!

Planking???

We had company come in town this weekend for the dance recital.  You all know what that means.....hitting the strip!!  My sister-in-law has been wanting to see the Donnie and Marie show forever.  During this trip she reserved her tickets and was going to accomplish her dream.  You are not going to believe it!  The show got canceled!  Donnie and Marie never cancel a show.  She was so disappointed.  So, we went and did the tourist thing, and saw some sites on the strip.  The gardens are looking very patriotic.
They even had these pretty birds.
The strip looked very pretty tonight.  It was crazy down there.  There must of been a lot going on.  Lately the strip has been attracting people in costumes.  Also, there are a ton of street performers.  This makes it very difficult to get around.  It is kind of a pain.
At Town Center the kids love the big blocks of ice.
Then we have planking.  What is planking?  "Planking, or face downs is an activity, popular in various parts of the world, consisting of lying face down in an unusual or incongruous location. The hands must touch the sides of the body, and having a photograph of the participant taken and posted on the Internet is an integral part of the game. Players compete to find the most unusual and original location in which to play. The location should also be as public as possible, and as many people as possible should be involved."  Planking was made popular by an Australian Rugby player. Now just reading this, I bet you can guess the name of my child who is all about this.  Yes, it's Austin!  So far he has planked at school on the statue of the school mascot.  Going on the strip was yet another opportunity to plank.  Of course, being the mother that I am, I took the pictures!  I always want to support my children's goals and dreams.  If it doesn't hurt anyone or get them arrested, I'm in.  So here are some pictures of Austin planking some tornadoes at Town Center.

Now you know how much Ian looks up to his big brother.....well, here is Ian planking the stairs at Town Center.
What am I going to do???

Recital!

The dance recitals are over!  Aubrey did a wonderful job. It was such a joy to watch.  The studio she dances at certainly knows how to put on a show.  It was even more special this year because Grandma Brasier, her two Aunts, and a cousin came to watch her!  She even had a little girl in our ward come and  see her.  She is convinced that Aubrey is a ballerina!  Here are some of her professional pictures.
Tap
Lyrical
Jazz
Ballet
After the recital, her biggest fan always gives her flowers!
Then we went to Yogurtland with friends for some frozen yogurt.
Her friend Rachel shares her love for dance.  She even dances on the team Aubrey danced on last year!  Here they are having their diva moment!
It was a great recital!  They did a great job.

Dress Rehearsals!

It is recital time!!!!  Oh you know what that means.  I can take pictures during dress rehearsal!  Now, let me warn you.  These pictures did not turn out good.  I don't know what was wrong with me.  I couldn't take a good picture to save my life!  Also, the video was horrible.  The camera wouldn't focus.  I am not good at all of the technical stuff.  But hey, my mom needs to see video!  Also, keep in mind this is a dress rehearsal.  The lights are weird, their hair is not perfect, and some of them didn't have time to change into costumes between performance.  This does give you a taste of what Aubrey does.  She loves dance, and she works hard at it.
This is her jazz number, Higher Ground.

This is her first time doing Lyrical.  She loves it.
There was a lot of drama this year with ballet, but in the end I think they pulled it off the best they could.

Happy Birthday Aubrey!

Aubrey had a great birthday.  At was a crazy day with dress rehearsals going on, finals, and Don had meetings that night.  We did get to celebrate as a family!  We rushed home after dress rehearsals, ate dinner, and set out Aubrey's favorite cupcakes.  Oh yeah, Retro Bakery cupcakes.  (I have a blogging friend who loves cupcakes!  You know who you are.  Check these out!)
After that Aubrey opened her gifts.  She got her x-box kinect!  Boy was she excited for that.  She also got the Dance Central game.  She has been dancing to her game ever since.  Aubrey also got a new outfit from her brothers. She loved that.

Seminary Is Over!

Seminary is over!  Austin is so excited he gets a half an hour of extra sleep this week!!!  He has had a wonderful year in seminary!  He has loved his teacher.  I doubt these seminary teachers know the kind of impact they have on these kid's lives!  I am so thankful for the time, energy, and the sleep they sacrifice!  Austin loved Brother Rezendes.  Austin just needs to be careful during Brother Rezendes's object lessons.  No, it is not a good idea to run out in the middle of traffic.  Even if your seminary teacher, who you totally trust, tells you to do so!   Last year Austin had perfect attendance and this year he only missed three days.  Austin tells me all the time that he loves early morning seminary.  We are so proud of his commitment to seminary!  Thanks Brother Rezendes for a great year!
