Lacrosse

We won this one!!!  Yay!!  The boys played awesome!!!  I was totally impressed!  Ian plays most of the game and is really good!  Every game he gets better and better.  He really works hard.  After the game he said to me, "Did you see me go coast to coast!"  I said, "Yes, you did awesome!"  I had know idea what he was talking about.  I later learned that meant that he ran the whole field!  O.k., I am learning!

Lacrosse

It is so hard to see the team lose and lose.  I have to keep reminding myself that they are a beginner team.  Most of these kids are in elementary school.  I need to remember that.  This is also Ian's first year playing.  With that said, let me tell you....Ian does awesome!  He has found his position and he loves it.  He plays defense!  He is super aggressive.  I honestly don't know what comes over him!  I can tell his coaches really like him.  They told him today that he was one of the only players that came here to play!!!  That made him so proud.  I am so glad he is catching on.

I didn't get the picture of his awesome block, but it did put him in the penalty box.  The coach went over to him and I though the was going to yell at Ian.  Instead he gave him a high five.  I guess when he moves up to the other divisions, that move will be totally legal!  We were so proud!

Frozen

Aubrey has been obsessed with the movie Frozen.  She saw it twice in the theaters.  One time she saw it, she went to the sing-a-long!  Yep, Aubrey, Rachel, and a bunch of little girls.  They loved it!  So for months Aubrey has been reminding me when the movie is coming out!  She was driving me nuts!  So the day finally came and I went and got her Frozen!  She was so excited.  In fact I took a picture of it with my phone and sent it to her.  She was thrilled.  She came home from school and wanted to watch it that second.  Uh, we had the missionaries coming over and I had to get her to her parent meeting for Fusion, but she didn't care.  That movie had to be on right away!
Even though they sat and watched the movie, she still had homework to do!  I have to admit, that movie is pretty cute!

Time Is Going By Too Fast....

Yesterday we received Ian's yearbook proofs.  The picture on the right was taken at the beginning of the year.  The picture in the middle and on the left were taken at couple of weeks ago.  When Don and I looked at these pictures we were in shock.  We had no idea how much Ian had changed.  In only seven months he has seemed to just grow up.  At first I thought it was the glasses, but after really looking at the pictures, that isn't it! He just looks older.  Where has time gone?  How can he grow up in only seven months.  Once your kids get into middle school, they grow up so fast.  I just wish time would stop for a moment, but I don't think my kids want that.  They are just cruising along!

Yearbook Pictures

This year the team gets a page in the yearbook.  These are the kids that play from Ian's school.  There are kids that play from all over.  Some kids even as young as 3rd grade play on this team.  Don told me that next year Ian will have to move up because he will be in 7th grade.  Ian loves it.

New Beginnings

Last night we had New Beginnings. (New Beginnings is an annual event for young women and their parents, priesthood leaders, and Young Women leaders. Young women who will reach age 12 in the coming year are also invited to attend with their parents. This event helps young women and their parents learn about the Young Women program. It includes an explanation of Personal Progress and a presentation of the Young Women theme, logo, motto, and age-group purpose statements and symbols. It should help young women and their parents plan for events in the coming year. New Beginnings provides opportunities for leaders to express love for the young women, encourage parents to help their daughters in Personal Progress experiences, introduce young women who will reach age 12 in the coming year, and welcome young women who have joined the Church or moved into the ward. It is a time to recognize young women and their accomplishments in Personal Progress.) Our ward decided to do a pinewood derby.  I don't know if the girls were really into it, but they had a great time!  I was so impressed, it was super nice!  Now we thought we were done with pinewood derby.  Then again here we were.  Aubrey thought she would just paint it and throw on the wheels, but Don was not having it!  Oh no, he wanted to win!!!  He shaped Aubrey's car and made sure everything was perfect!  So cute to see Don enjoy this activity!
Here are Aubrey and her friends.  They had to paint the cars in a value color.  Aubrey did gold for virtue, because then she could use glitter, Haley loves Arrested Development, and Adrienne...um...you need to attach the wheels so it can go!

Look who they got to run it!  Yep, Don was right there running the races!  Oh my gosh, this brought back memories.  We did this for years!  Don loved it!  He keeps it organized and going!

Aubrey won first place for the Mia Maids, and 3rd all around.  It was a great night

Lacrosse Update!

First off...we have uniforms!!!  Ian is number 30.  Why?  I don't really know.  They asked him what number he wanted to be, and this is what he chose!  Anyway, the uniforms look pretty good.  Ian has been moved to play defense, and I think he has found his position.  He is killing it on defense.  Every game we see, he gets better and better!  He loves it.  Unfortunately they lost this game.  They were playing Don's school and Don's school is the best in the league!  Our team did good for a bit, then they tired out!  Their coach thinks they have potential, so they are calling more practices.  I love that their coaches want to teach them!  I know Ian will only get better.

Nice Weekend Home

This weekend Don and Zach went to Idaho for our niece's Missionary Welcome Home.  Aubrey, Ian, and me stayed in Vegas.  They had things to do and couldn't miss school.  I couldn't miss work.  Even though we missed being in Idaho, we had a nice weekend home.  We kicked off Friday by getting pizza, soda, ice cream, and watching Catching Fire.  The kids were so excited.  We never eat that much junk food at one time.  They were super excited.  The next day Ian went to the Klondike Derby for scouts.  It was good he went there because I went to Aubrey's solo / ensemble dance festival.  I am sure Ian loved going to the mountain to play in the snow instead of watching dancers!  After the festival Aubrey went to tap, and in the evening she babysat some cute little kids.  When Ian came home from the mountain I took him to get a new lacrosse stick.  It was wonderful to just relax with these two and have fun.  It was a good weekend for all of us!

Lacrosse - Rough Weekend

Ian played in a lacrosse tournament last weekend.  Let me tell you, it was a bad weekend.  First off, the teams they played against put together their teams for this tournament.  Yes, this was their best players put on a team to play!  Our team is a bunch of younger kids, so of which have never played before.  Do you see where this is going?  Yes, they played four games and lost them all.  It was a bummer.  To make matters worse, Ian's stick got stolen.  At this tournament he played defense.  We didn't have a stick for defense so Ian used one of the coach's sticks.  He put his stick under his bag and went out to play.  The bags were right by the team.  After the game he went and picked up his bag, and no stick.  Ian came over to me and  I started giving him a lecture about watching his stuff and being responsible.  I just couldn't believe that someone would take his stick.  As we walked over to the field to look again for his stick a man stopped me and told me how he just coached a game and put his stick down in the same spot and now it was gone.  An expensive stick!  I felt horrible and sick.  I turned to Ian to see big tears roll down his face!  I was heartbroken for him.  Now he has another stick, it's just that it was a really good stick that was taken!  I told Ian we would get him a new stick as soon as we could.  What a hard lesson to learn!  On the way home we went to Burger King to get him some food.  We never get fast food, so this was a treat.  The poor kid's body was not used to playing that many games in one day.  His legs started to cramp up!  I think he was glad to go home and just watch a movie!  He needed a break.
