Engagement Pictures.

While Aubrey was in North Carolina visiting Christian's family and letting them get to know her, she fell in love with North Carolina.  She kept telling me how green it was.  (I know, I am from back east too.)  She made a comment that she wished she could take her engagement pictures there.  Well, Christian's family knew a photographer and got them done!  Aubrey was so excited.  They came out beautiful.  I am glad she was able to take them there.

Week in Review

It was a busy and good week.  It has been so hot and humid here.  I am fine with the heat, until about September, and then I am done!  Like in a big way!
Don and I went to the temple this week. We are working on getting out family history work done.

Then we saw this wonderful sunset.  It is always good in Vegas.
I did go to the oncologist.  The hip that I thought I hurt has no cancer in it. It is an injury.  Hopefully it will heal fast.  The tumors have shrunk, but one still is growing.  If it still grows, we are going to have to change my medicine.  I am not a vegetarian.  I totally miss meat and have only chosen to do this because I have read some research on how this is better for people with cancer.  Like I have dreams of eating hamburgers at 5 Guys!  I wonder if it is helping though.  Some of my tumors have shrunk!

Eclipse Through Zach's Project

Zach has been posting a ton of pictures that he took during the eclipse.  They are so cool.  I am so amazed by them.  Now he has to do the research and the other work.  I am so glad everything worked out.

Cross Country Begins!

So the Cross Country season began!  When he came home on Friday I had to buy him some ice for his ice bath.  Now, I took a lot of slack for this.  Family members said that wasn't right.  There are many theories about ice baths.  Listen, I just do what I am told.
This meet was the Red Rock Invite.  It was held at Floyd Lamb Park.  Now yes, we have ran there before and our pictures look drastically different.  There are lakes, ducks, and geese there.  In fact during the girl's race the geese decided to cross over to the lake getting in the girl's way.  It was pretty funny.  I wish I had a picture of it.  Don is always the best Dad and always there to cheer on his kids!

I think Ian did awesome in this race.  I think back to last year when he went to his first race and he got like 29 minutes.  This race he got 20:11!  I was super proud of him.  Now he wants to get under 20, and I think he can do that.  Of course he was not happy about the race.  He felt like he could do better!  I think he will meet his goal.  Centennial got third in the Sunset Boys division.  Not bad!
Later that night I got a text from the coach.  He was so happy with how Ian ran.  He sent me this picture and we realized that Ian PR'd for the three mile.  This made Ian happy!

The Great American Solar Eclipse

Today was the Great American Solar Eclipse.  This Eclipse was special because it has been 99 years since a total solar eclipse would march across the American continent.  The best place to view it, and have a TOTAL solar eclipse would be Rexburg, Idaho!  Crazy right?  BYU-Idaho would have the best viewing!  So Zachery decided to do his senior project around the eclipse.  He is a physics major and decided to do a project where he measures the corona of the eclipse.  I really don't understand, but it was so cool to see all of his equipment when we were up in Idaho.  Much of which he built and designed.  So all month long Don and I have been following the weather hoping that Rexburg would have the perfect weather.  With Idaho you never know.  Then we saw that it was going to be cloudy, and we worried.  Well, I woke up today and went to the gym and this was the weather I saw!
Are you kidding me?  It is sunny 90% of the time here and the day we need it to be sunny it is cloudy and rainy!  No eclipse for us!  The good news was, Zach snapchatted us and it was nice and sunny in Idaho.  So I sat at my desk and watched it on my computer, well kind of.
I even put on my glasses for kicks.
Now it was very successful for Zach.  All of his equipment worked and I could tell that he was happy.  He even snapchatted me some pictures and I felt a part of the eclipse in a round about way.
Even Aubrey and Christian missed in in South Carolina due to clouds!  They were bummed to.  They did take a picture of themselves with their glasses on.
All of our family in Idaho got a great view.  That is so cool.  Later Zach posted this picture of when the eclipse was in totality.  So cool.  I was so proud of him!  He is so talented!

Week In Review

We survived the first week of school.  Yep, we sure did.
This week we got our peaches from Utah.  I always order my peaches from Utah.  They are heavenly and so sweet.  Sometimes I make jam, but nobody eats it here in the house.  So I sliced them up and froze some of them for smoothies and cobbler.  I made a cobbler tonight for family home evening tomorrow.  I swear, these peaches are like candy!
Last week Don's waffle iron broke.  Oh my, you know how that is.  Crazy!! He has been making waffles on Saturday morning for years!!!  So this was tragic.  Then we went to stores looking for a new waffle iron. No such luck.  Don is very particular about his waffle irons.  So he went on Amazon and found the one he likes. It came in on Friday.  Just in time for the weend.  Now he is back in business.

Ian had a practice for cross country Friday night.  Yep the season is going to be starting soon!  Well, they decided to dress up for practice on Friday night.  So funny!!! Now this is what Cross Country is all about.  This does my heart good to see them having fun and being goofy!  Next week is the first race!
Happy Sunday!

We Survived the First Day of School!

Today was the first day of school.  I made these cookies for Family Home Evening after school.  They are Swig knockoffs.  They taste pretty good.
Then I got up at 4:30 am to make Ian pancakes before he went to seminary.  He was so thrilled that I took pictures of him before he headed off to school. Just so excited.  I bet you can tell from his face!
Someday he will appreciate these pictures.  I can't believe he is a sophomore.  Where does time go?  I think he had a good first day!  He seems to like all of his classes.
Then Don and I took our first day of school picture.  We look pretty good!  We survived too.  We got it done!
