Week In Review!

We had some stormy days this week and I love that.  It was great to run in!
Austin and Bree finally got a new car.  They are really excited about it.  Remember their car breaking down only hours after their wedding.  Transmission died and it wasn't worth fixing.  Now they have a new car.  It was so cute to have Austin text me that this is the most adult thing he has ever done and he was stressed about it.  I remember those feelings!!!
I voted.  It is kind of a bummer, because I am not happy with any of the candidates!!!!  I won't even say who I voted for.  After much prayer, reflection, and research I think I did the best thing for me and the country.  I just wish someday there will be a president I can fully support.  On the plus side, check out Las Vegas's cool I voted stickers.

Then I got these pretty pictures of these wonderful girls!  College fun!!!  I love the trees in the background too.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

I went to school on Thursday and this is what I found.  Some of my friends at worked were wearing these pink shirts for breast cancer awareness month and supporting me at the same time.  It was very moving to me.  I haven't written about what is going on with me.  I guess it is just hard for me to say the words.  A part of me feels like a failure.  The emotions are strong and always near the surface.  My cancer is back.  We have known since June.  June 1 in fact, my birthday!  We knew since November that there was something up.  My blood work was showing that something was wrong.  (This was the first tender mercy.  Usually the blood work is not reliable.) I went for scan after scan.  The doctors couldn't find anything.  It was a stressful few months.  I had some hope that maybe nothing would turn up.  Then in May they found the three little specks in my bones.  Yes, it has spread to my bones.  It is so strange, I feel no pain, and would have never known.  I feel perfectly fine!  (Another tender mercy!) They found it is the primary breast cancer.  Thank heavens. The doctors like that and they also like that it is only in my bones, not in any major organs.  (Another blessing.)  It is hard to accept that this is never going to go away.  I take chemo pills and they seem to be doing their job.  It took awhile to get the dosage right, but now seems thing to be going good.  I also went for radiation.  I feel fine.  I am still running and living my life.  It is hard, to know it is back, but I am so grateful for the loving support I have received from everyone.  I am grateful for people who lift me up when I am depressed.  I am so thankful for a loving Heavenly Father who is giving me time on this earth to be with my family and blessing me with feeling good!  I am grateful for Jesus Christ who knows my pain and suffering and comforts me.  Things are good and with friends like these, how can I go wrong?

College Life!

Every once in a while I get pictures from Aubrey.  I love it.  She is loving college life!!!  It is fun to see her and her roommates having fun.  At least I know she gets out of the dance studio once in a while.  She loves those corn mazes!

My Week In Review - Young Women In Excellence

The week has been kind of quiet with Cross Country over.  We are kind of getting used to that.  This week I was in charge of Young Women in Excellence.  (Young Women in Excellence is an annual event for all young women and their parents. It is a celebration of Personal Progress and the good things young women are doing in their lives. Each young woman shares a value experience or project she has completed during the year that exhibits excellence. These presentations may include sharing talents and skills the young women have learned.) I was asked to do this last minute, so what's a girl to do.  Consult Pinterest!  Let me tell you, I am so grateful that people who are super creative are willing to share their talents with others.  SO GRATEFUL! So once I received this assignment, I went home and found this idea: click here! It was based on Alma 37:6, "By small and simple things are great things brought to pass."  This is what I am always trying to teach the girls.  That by doing personal progress, simple things, great things will come into their lives, blessings!  I knew this is what we needed to concentrate on.  So I quickly threw this together.  We assigned all the leaders a value to decorate.  They had to fill three jars with something in that value color.  Then, without being asked, my friend Michele cut all the wood for the cars to stand on.  I didn't have time to order the posters from the website, so one of the girls painted it for me.  I was so impressed how this came together and the leaders loved it!  They loved how they all filled their jars their own way and it came out perfect.  No stress for them.  Also, the Young Women's president made these little necklaces with jars filled with beads in all the value colors.  It was perfect.  I spoke on the theme, which most likely was not perfect, and we went and looked at the projects.  I really feel the boards for the projects work well.  The girls seem to like it.  It was a good night.  It wasn't very long, but I think the girls loose interest if it goes too long.  Hopefully they understood the theme and the message I was trying to get across.

Today was the last meet of the season.  It has been a great season, and Ian has improved over the season!  We are so proud of him!

Cross Country Update -Frosh/Soph

So while I was away, Ian had a cross country meet.  My most excellent friends and the wife of the coach, kept me in the loop and sent me pictures.  It was the Frosh/Soph Championships.  Ian killed it getting 19:53!  Amazing!!!  To top it off, the Freshmen won their race!  It was a great race!
