A Day In The Mountains

This will be my last post for 2009. This year we are not going to be together as a family to ring in the New Year. Zachery and Austin have a dance and since Don is in the Stake Young Men's Presidency, he is chaperoning. The younger kids and me will be going to a friend's house. To celebrate the New Year we decided to spend the day sledding up in the mountains. We headed to Mt. Charleston. The snow was perfect, and we had a fun day. (Thanks Elaine for the snow pants!)

Look at the look on Aubrey's face! Priceless!

Don is crazy when he is out on the mountain sledding. He could go all day! I am dragging him off the mountain!
You are probably wondering why there are hardly any pictures of Zachery sledding. Well, he went down a path that had a tree in front of it. The snow is pretty icy, so you go really fast. He hit that tree hard, and now we are watching his back, tailbone, and wrist. We might have to take him in for x-rays tomorrow. I don't think he is too bad. He is still going to the dance tonight. Don't worry, I do have a picture of this. I just didn't want to embarrass him. It will be in his scrapbook!

There was this little sled path that went down a gentle hill. Like a mini bobsled run. Ian played on that all day!

It was a fun day. A good way to end 2008. Well, Happy New Year everyone! We hope everything is great in 2009!

Movies, Movies, And More Movies!

We spent a lot of our vacation going to movies. We have been asked not to blog about them, because Zachery wants everyone to go to his site and read his reviews.
http://zachreviews.blogspot.com/ Don and I did go see "The Curious Case of Benjamen Button" and Zachery did not see that one. Don and I enjoyed it. It is three hours long, but you really don't mind. It was good, and we can see why it is nominated for everything!

Mother-Daughter Twilight Day

Hi! This is Aubrey! Yes, I went and saw ''Twilight.'' I loved this movie! I have to admit Edward is CUTE! My favorite scene was the baseball scene. I'm happy when the guys head got torn off and we didn't see that picture. When Edward sparkled that was cheap. It had some funny parts. My mom and I went with Jenna, Sister Curtis, and Sister Franco. The kissing scenes where a little gross. I have to give the movie a 9 out of 10. [The 1 that was taken off was because of the sparkling and the ''a little bit gross'' kissing scenes.] Well, after that I went to ''Ben and Jerry's.''

Ian's Family Celebration

Today was Ian's birthday. He had a great day at church. Dad was filling in for the Primary Chorister, so he was excited to have Dad lead everyone in singing a birthday song for him! Ian also told us not to worry, everything would be "smooth" in Primary! Where does he get this? After dinner we had cake and ice cream and let him open our gifts to him. We usually have a "friend" birthday party in January, after winter break is over.

I don't know who was more excited for these gifts, Ian or Zachery!
Today a friend of mine asked me how old Ian is today. She thought for sure he was turning 5. No, he is 7 today. She was shocked! Time goes by quickly. As I sat in Sacrament meeting I thought to myself, this is the day he was born and the day we almost lost him! It is hard to believe looking at him now, that he had a rough start on this earth! Ian we love you and we are so grateful you are a member of our family! Happy Birthday Little Man!

I Forgot The Yearly Christmas Picture

I forgot to take a picture of the kids in their Christmas outfits. Yes, they were thrilled today when they were getting ready for church and I made them wear the same outfits as last week so I could get a picture! Does Austin look taller than Zachery?

Happy Birthday Ian!

Seven Things We Love About Ian!
1. He is the most loving little boy.
2. He loves his family.
3. He is full of energy!
4. He is very funny.
5. Zachery says that he loves him because he still loves Star Wars!
6. Ian is so cute!
7. He will always be our little man!
One funny story about Ian: Today I asked him what kind of cake he wanted for his birthday tomorrow. He told me that he wanted a "butt" cake. "What?", I asked him. "A "butt" cake," he told me while he was patting his bum. I was a bit confused! So he told me that he wanted one of those chocolate cakes with the hole in the middle! Ohhhh, a bundt cake! I can make that!

Rock Band

The kid's grandparents got them the Rock Band 2 game. I thought they would be so excited to get the Wii, because they have been asking for it forever. No, they opened that Rock Band first and played all day! Eventually, they did get to the Wii. Here is so funny pictures and video of them playing the game!
Ian is the Rock Band dancer!
Zach and Austin's friends came over later and they did rock band for a while.
Pause the music to listen to this. I hate my voice and the fact that I say that I will be putting this on the blog. What an idiot!

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve is here! All of the chocolate in the advent calendars has been eaten and it is time for Christmas. We don't have any family here, so we have to keep the kids busy. We have to get their minds off of presents. They do get to open the gifts they get for each other in the morning. They draw names and they get so excited to shop for each other. I think they are more excited to give their gifts to each other than to receive them. Ian was just jumping up and down like a crazy little kid. Then we take them out on the strip. There is a few things we can do as a family and they enjoy it. One thing they love is that all of the Christmas cookies I bake are now theirs. The leftovers that is! Here is Austin and Aubrey getting the platters together.
Then we went to Excalibur to see The Polar Express 4-D ride. It was really fun. We liked it.
Then of course we go to the Bellagio gardens.

Cute picture as we walk down to watch the fountain show. We love that show too!
Then we go and play in FAO Shwartz. This dragon is on sale for $999.99!
Zachery is still loving Star Wars. These are backpacks. Interesting!

Ooops!
Then we go home and have clam chowder in sour dough bread bowls. This is Aubrey and Ian leaving cookies and hot chocolate for Santa. Don't forget the carrots too!
Christmas P.J.s.
Austin wanted to take this shot!
In true Brasier form, there are always goofy pictures!
