Lacrosse Update

Lacrosse has been going well.  Ian's team has lost a game this week and tied another.  It is so frustrating at times, but they are playing harder teams!  This week Ian played a lot of different positions.  Our coach was out of town and during the game some kids got injured.  The coach would look at the team and say, who can play this position or that position.  Ian kept raising his hand saying he could. No one else would on the team, so Ian kept getting put in!  He told me later that he wanted to show the coach he is willing to play any position and is a team player.  I think that is a good plan!

Solo and Ensemble Showcase

Last week we had solo and ensemble showcase.  The week before the girls performed their solos and small group dances to be judged by dance teachers in the valley.  Aubrey's solo went over very well.  She got a superior rating.  I think Aubrey's solo did very well this year.  She got some very good comments about her dancing and just a few things she needed to work on.  Then the girls put together some small group dances to be judged.  The seniors did a dance and then the rest of the girls did theirs.  This was the dance they did, it was called the Light From Within.  It was so pretty.  They were asked to perform it for the showcase.  Not even the seniors were asked, so they were really happy about it.  Then after they performed they received the excellence in technique award.  I love that award.  It was a great night.

I guess it helps when you record something if you take the lens cap off!  Yeah, I did that.  Then the video came out good!

St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  We went to school, work, and came home.  Nothing exciting.  We had our traditional Irish dinner and then Aubrey and Ian said that if we wore green to Sonic we would get 1/2 priced shakes.  Well, what to do???  Head to Sonic!!!  I think it was a successful day!

Happy Sunday!

This Sunday Ian gave a talk in Sacrament Meeting.  For our Sunday message, I decided to post it.
Good morning Brother and Sisters. For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Ian Brasier.  I was asked to give a talk on Helamen 5:12.  Bishop Dean L. Davies recently said in a talk that this scripture, “gave unmistakable clarity to the importance of building our lives on a sure foundation, even the foundation of Jesus Christ.  The scripture states, “  And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall.”  This is one of my favorite scriptures.  I think this means that you put your faith in Christ and build your testimony on the Christ.  In 1989 Bishop Davies lived through an earthquake that hit San Francisco.  On pondering the events of that day and the damage that was done he stated, “The earthquake impacted many lives, including my own. Pondering the events of that day reaffirms in my mind and heart that in order to successfully withstand the tempests, earthquakes, and calamities of life, we must build upon a sure foundation.”  I am forced to make decisions every day.  A couple of weeks ago I was forced to make a really hard decision.  I am on a club lacrosse team and a couple of weeks ago we played in a big tournament known was The Best In The West.  Our team had won our last game qualifying us to play in the Sunday tournament.  That was a hard Decision because I had to choose my team or church.  When I came home from the game I prayed long and hard about which to choose.  I had the feeling that I should choose church over sports.  I instantly knew that I would get blessings from going to church and I knew I would feel much better.  This choice was made easier because my testimony was built on the foundation of my Savior, Jesus Christ.  I know that if you build your testimony on the foundation of Christ, nothing will be able to tear you down.

Lacrosse Update

We had two games of lacrosse this week.  We lost the first one to Somerset.  It was a rough game, but they hung in there.  We only lost by one.  Then we played Greenspun!  We killed them!  Ian's team played really good!  It is a ton of fun.

Lacrosse Update

So, this is how it goes.  First we beat Faith Lutheran, then we loose to Faith Lutheran, and tonight we tied Faith Lutheran.  How crazy is that?  I am sure we are not done.  We will meet them again, I'm sure.  Our team basically didn't show up until the 2nd half.  If they had played good in the first half, I am sure they would of won.  Ian played most of the second half.  He did a wonderful job.  Ok, so Faith Lutheran is suppose to be this really good private school.  They have an awesome football field that the boys used to play lacrosse. During half time I went to use the bathrooms only to learn that the football field doesn't have any bathrooms.  What???  This is suppose to be some awesome private school.  How could you not have any bathrooms, only port-a-potties to use???  Man, if I was paying that kind of tuition, I would want a good bathroom!

Competition #2

Aubrey also had a dance competition this weekend.  I have taped most of her dances so this time I decided to take pictures of her solo.  It was a really hard competition.  There were schools from Las Vegas, Utah, and Arizona.  Everyone danced so good!  It was really tough.

Even though the completion was tough....we killed it!!!  We got 2nd place for jazz and judge's choice, 2nd for hip hop, 1st for lyrical and overall high score for lyrical, 1st for duets, and out of 17 solos, 5 of our girls were in the top 10.  Our highest soloist was 3rd place.  Aubrey took 7th, being the second high scoring soloist for her school!  The girls were super excited and happy!  They worked hard and I think this was the best they have ever performed these dances!!!  I was super proud of Aubrey and the team.  When we got home, I checked my email and learned that Aubrey has been accepted into the summer ballet intensive at BYU!  We are super proud of her!!  She is so excited to go and dance there this summer.

Here is their Lyrical number.  It was choreographed by one of the captains.  She did such a beautiful job!

Lacrosse Update

Lately we have been so busy with lacrosse tournaments.  For the past two weeks we have had tournaments all weekend long.  It is always hard when it is tournament time.  We don't do too good during tournaments.  This year we actually won some games.  It was pretty good.  One of the tournaments we went to is called the Best of the West.  Last year we lost all of our games there and scored no goals.  This year we lost three games, won one, and scored 14 goals.  Not bad!  WE are getting better!

See where the ball is in the net.  Yeah, Ian put it there!  We were so proud.
